We often search for God outside of ourselves: in the sky, in temples, in teachings passed down through the ages. Yet, God is not far. He does not hide in an inaccessible place, nor dwell above the clouds. God resides within the deepest part of our being, in the pure consciousness that emerges when we stop rushing and surrender to silence.
Enlightenment is not about becoming someone else. It is a return to what we have always been, before fear, judgment, and imposed beliefs covered our light. It is a rediscovery, like removing veils to find the natural clarity of our soul.
When Buddha awakened, he did not discover a new world. He saw reality as it is: without filters, without attachment, without fear. He understood that everything is impermanent, that nothing truly belongs to us, and that peace arises when we let go. This truth is universal: it belongs to no single tradition; it is the profound experience of every human being who opens to inner silence.
Religions are paths. Some walk with Jesus, others are inspired by Krishna, some meditate with Buddha, or connect with the elements of nature. The name you give to God matters little. What truly matters is the sincerity of your heart, your authenticity in your quest, and your commitment to truth.
The true path is within. It does not begin in books or speeches, but in the simple experience of sitting, breathing, and observing. God is not a concept to understand but a reality to live. When you dare to be true to yourself, when you lay down your masks and see your being as it is, God reveals Himself.
And in this openness to oneself, it is essential to understand others. Sometimes, someone withdraws or falls silent. This does not always mean they are avoiding you. Life can strike in ways that leave little energy to give.
They may be distracted by sudden changes they did not see coming, trying to adapt to something greater than themselves, or simply trying to survive the day. By the time they are done, they may have nothing left to offer in conversation. Some people withdraw because they are too exhausted to socialize, others carry invisible pain or struggle with illness that makes even the smallest interaction heavy. And then there are those simply tired of wearing a brave face, tired of pretending to be fine while barely holding themselves together inside.
The truth is, we rarely see the full picture of what someone carries. What appears as distance may be survival. What seems like silence may be exhaustion. Before taking it personally, remember that everyone fights battles they do not always speak of. Be gentle in your judgments, generous in your assumptions, and quick to give thanks for the small presences in your life.
This inner path is not always easy. It requires courage, faith, and humility. But it is the only path to true freedom. Do you want to know God? Begin by knowing yourself. Do you want enlightenment? Love truth more than your opinions. Move forward step by step, with trust, understanding, and compassion for yourself and others.
And remember: God is not elsewhere.
God is already here, within you, in the living silence of your heart… and in the patience and light you offer to others.
