Each week, I share reflections to guide our path of healing and awakening — gentle teachings and spiritual practices to help us deepen our inner journey and reconnect with the frequency of love.
This week, let us explore a timeless teaching from Master Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov, on the sacred practice of weekly fasting — a way to purify the body, clarify the mind, and restore harmony with the Divine flow of life.
The Sacred Art of Weekly Fasting
Master Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov reminds us that fasting, when practiced with awareness and love, is far more than a physical discipline. It is a sacred act of renewal — a conscious return to purity, light, and harmony between body and soul.
Cleansing the body, clarifying the mind
When we stop feeding the body for a day, we give our cells a chance to awaken from their habits and become intelligent again. The body begins to cleanse itself; energies realign; the mind becomes lighter and clearer.
Fasting, when accompanied by pure water, silence, prayer, and gentle meditation, becomes a spiritual medicine — one that purifies and strengthens from within.
It is said that during this sacred pause, the body burns the impurities that clutter the inner temple, while the soul rediscovers its natural peace. The digestive fire becomes the flame of transformation — and through it, a subtle joy is born.
An offering of light
Many spiritual masters fast not only for health but as an offering of love — to help, bless, or uplift others through the invisible power of intention. In abstaining, they generate subtle energy that radiates healing and peace toward those in need.
It is a quiet form of service, where every act of renunciation becomes an act of compassion and alignment with the Divine.
Through fasting, the energy once directed toward the physical is redirected toward the spiritual — awakening higher centers of consciousness. The heart opens. The inner ear becomes attuned to divine whispers.
Dispelling shadows, anchoring peace
During fasting, the denser energies within us — what ancient teachings call “lower entities” — lose their hold, for they can no longer feed on our excesses. Light returns. Clarity expands.
This is how fasting anchors peace within the soul.
As Christ said: “This kind can be cast out only by prayer and fasting.” Purity becomes the key to liberation, allowing the light of our spirit to shine unobstructed through the body-temple.
Returning gently to nourishment
When the fast ends, it is important to reintroduce food slowly — with gratitude and care. Light broths, soups, and simple portions honor the body’s rhythm and reawaken the sacredness of eating.
This gentle transition invites us to eat not only with awareness but with reverence. Every bite becomes a prayer, every meal a communion.
The result is a renewed vitality, a refined awareness, and a profound sense of inner peace — as though the cells have been washed in light.
Fasting is not deprivation. It is communion.
It is a return to simplicity, to reverence, to the sacred dialogue between body, mind, and soul — where true nourishment begins: in light.
Wishing you a peaceful meditation and a luminous reconnection to your inner essence.
